Got a Truck or SUV? Use It to Make a Real Difference

Big things are happening at the Little Elm Area Food Bank, and we’re so excited to share a new volunteer opportunity with you.

Recently, we’ve been incredibly fortunate to partner with local businesses like HEB and Costco, who are generously donating food and essential goods on a regular basis. With these new partnerships, we’ve seen a big increase in donation volume—which is amazing news for the families we serve.

But here’s the thing: to keep everything running smoothly, we need help. And that’s where you come in.

A Behind-the-Scenes Role That Makes a Big Impact

Every week, our volunteers help move over 2,000 pounds of donated goods—yes, you read that right. That includes everything from bread and fresh produce to bulk pantry items. Getting these donations from our partners to the food bank, and then unloaded and sorted, takes a team effort.

We’re currently looking for dependable volunteers to help with both regular donation pick-ups and occasional on-demand collections from our partner locations.

Here’s what that looks like:

HEB Pick-Ups:

• Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday

Costco Pick-Ups:

• Monday, Thursday, and possibly Friday

These items need to be picked up promptly and brought back to the food bank, where they’ll be unloaded and prepped for distribution. Volunteers may also be asked to help with some of the lifting and organizing once items arrive.

Is This Role Right for You?

This opportunity is great for anyone who enjoys being active, has reliable transportation, and wants to make a direct impact in our community.

You’d be a great fit if you:

• Have access to a midsize SUV or larger (a truck is ideal!)

• Can lift medium to heavier items comfortably

• Are available for weekly pick-up routes or flexible on occasion

• Want to support a good cause in a practical, hands-on way

Whether you’re a retiree with time to give, someone looking to get more involved in the community, or just someone who wants to help where it’s needed—this is a role that truly makes a difference.
