Pearl Gentsch

The Little Elm Area Food Bank began in 1984, when founder Pearl Gentsch, requested cans of food for the poor instead gifts for her birthday. The old First Baptist Church served as storage in the early days.

The Food Bank soon outgrew the church location and was moved to a room at the original Little Elm Community Center until 2002, when the food bank moved again to a space near the Post Office. The Lawrence/McWhorter Foundation managed operations for several years and added a resale shop.

In 2005, the Little Elm Area Food Bank moved to its current location at 501 Bill Street. This space was remodeled by the Town of Little Elm and offered as a lease to the LEAFB, at a minimal fee.

The Little Elm Area Food Bank service area includes Hackberry, Little Elm, Lakewood Village, Oak Point, Crossroads south of Highway 380, Hill Town, Navo and all additional areas served by the Little Elm Independent School District.

As the Town of Little Elm’s only social service agency, the Little Elm Area Food Bank is critical to our Little Elm community. The LEAFB gives piece of mind to area families in crisis as it provides for their emergency food needs.
